  • We value providing the most effective and efficient treatment plan for our patients by combining the therapeutic process with education to enhance communication development. We believe it is important to include the patient, family, physicians, and teachers in developing a treatment plan to ensure optimal outcome. The needs of the individual will determine the plan and duration of treatment.

  • We value having a positive, cooperative relationship with our community medical staff and schools to provide a safe and consistent continuum of care.
  • We value creating a caring environment in which to respond to our patients with the utmost compassion.

The key to success is your great understanding of the business and treatment aspects of speech therapy. Our patient handbook contains very important information about our services, about financial obligations, insurance company guidelines, and regulations, and advocacy. Read all of the information very carefully. Share it with family members. Ask any questions you may have about what you read and begin participating in the therapy process today.

Our History

The Speech Path, LLC first opened its doors on September 1, 2005 in Perry, GA. It was started by licensed speech-language pathologists, Jessica Niederkorn and Kay Hancock when they realized those with communication disorders constituted a very overlooked segment of the population in the Perry area. Kay and Jessica felt there was a need for more comprehensive speech and language pathology services in middle Georgia. Both therapists had worked in larger cities where the number and extent of services offered were much greater. As a result of their previous experiences, Kay and Jessica opened The Speech Path, LLC in hopes of providing some of those same services to people living in middle Georgia. Creating a family-friendly business was also central to their vision for The Speech Path, LLC. Kay and Jessica wanted to start an office that could accommodate employees like themselves, wanting flexibility in their jobs to enable them to plan work around their families.

In May of 2007, The Speech Path, LLC expanded with the addition of another office. Previously, The Speech Path, LLC had been servicing a contract with a company in Macon that decided to close. As a result, there was a caseload of children in the area who needed speech therapy but had no place to go.

Kay and Jessica could not bare the thought of dropping these clients, especially after they had made so much progress! Consequently, they found a way to help these children and others by opening a second office in Macon.

Patient Testimonials
"In the past year our son, James, has become a completely different child at mealtime. Thanks to feeding therapy, James can now eat almost anything and is able to be served directly from the table, rather than special food just for him. His conversational speech has improved and exceeded beyond our expectations." - Jodi and Jason Rigby (Warner Robins)

"Our twin boys, Landen and Lakoda, have made amazing progress in the year and a half they have been receiving therapy at The Speech Path. They began therapy at 18 months old when they were not attempting to communicate with us. Now at almost 3 ½ years old they can communicate their wants and needs to us and follow directions. The transformation has been life-changing! Now I find myself saying, “Can the two of them just be quiet for 2 minutes?!?” We couldn’t be more proud! Landen, in addition to speech therapy, also receives feeding therapy which has helped immensely with mealtimes. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and go out of their way to be helpful - especially Jessi, Jennifer, Cindy, and Heather. Denise, the boys’ therapist, interacts wonderfully with the boys and takes the time to really explain what she is doing and how it will help Landen and Lakoda. We couldn’t be more pleased with our experience at The Speech Path in Perry." -Carrie and Charles Gleason (Bonaire)
